Beyond Theory: How Skilz Hub Students Managed the Digital Branding of a Major Football Tournament
Digital marketing is not an art that can be learned from books; it is not a craft that can be restricted to the quiet confines of the classroom. In an industry that evolves with each passing tick of an algorithm, digital marketing is a living, breathing art form that requires constant experimenting, courageous risk-taking and in-real-life promotion. While most institutions teach the "what" of marketing, at the Skilz The Learning Hub, we teach the "how."A perfect example of this "learning by doing" philosophy is the phenomenal success achieved by a group of our students at the All India Sevens Football Tournament (Premier Cup) held in Perinthalmanna. This group of students not only "learn" the subject of social media; it "conquered" it on one of the largest "platforms" in the sports culture of Kerala.
Challenge: Turning a Stadium into a Digital Phenomenon
When there are thousands of screaming fans cheering in a stadium and top teams fighting for supremacy on the field, it becomes an electrifying experience. However, the question was how to take this raw, physical form of energy and put it into a digital form to reach millions of fans online. For many, it would be a daunting task, but for Skilz Hub students Shahin and Musavvir, it proved to be the ideal case scenario to make a start in their startup company, named 'Space 48'. The students had to undertake the process of digital branding as well as real-time promotion of the Premier Cup, a case that needed strategic endurance. They had to tackle:
Brand Consistency: Guarantee the tournament appeared to be professional through all channels.
Audience Retention: Engaging the fans even when there were no matches played.
High-Stakes Delivery: Managing the expectations of organisers, sponsors, and the massive local fan base.
Strategy: The 'Blitzwork' Revolution
The team quickly realised that these were days when the traditional "post-game summary" was well and truly buried, as deep as the dinosaurs. To win, they needed to match their pace with the players on the field. They put in place a high-octane strategy, which they called 'Blitzwork'
Instant Gratification-The 60-minute rule:The team aimed to edit and publish moments of key matches, goals and crowd reactions just a few minutes after the whistle. That way, those who cannot attend also feel, on their screen, the "live" thrill.
Storytelling with emotion: More than just scores, they captured the sweat, tension during penalty shootouts and fans in unbridled joy. They made a football match cinematic.
Hyper-local Engagement:They show here how to engage with content creators' use of deep-rooted passion for Sevens Football in Malappuram by incorporating specific cultural cues and trending audio to ensure their content reached a deep resonance among the locals, while making it fit to be published to the global audience of football enthusiasts.
Win: Breaking the 2 Million Mark
The numbers were the best endorsement that “learning by doing” is actually effective. Within a few days, the figures told an amazing story:
Massive Reach:Their posts were not just sitting there idle they went viral. The content reached over 2 million people, above all the noise on social media.
The Talk of the Town:With thousands of shares and comments, the Premier Cup was the talk of the town, both online and offline in the local tea shops.

Real Value for the Game:It wasn’t just about likes. This massive online buzz made the game much more valuable and set the tone for an even bigger season next year.
More Than Just a "One-Time Thing"
The tournament is over, but for these students, the journey is just beginning. They now have something better than a certificate: they have a portfolio. When they go for their next big project or job, they don’t have to say "I know how to go viral." They can simply say, "I've done it. Here are the 2 million people I reached."By starting 'Space 48' while still at Skilz Hub, they’ve jumped from being students to being entrepreneurs. They’ve networked with business owners, managed high-pressure deadlines and learned how to build a brand from scratch.
